Moon Shin (1922-1995) is a world-renowned master of sculpture, and his artwork is well nown for its original simmetry aesthetics.

He was born in Japan on January 16, 1922, and spent his childhood in Masan.
He studied Western Painting at the Japanese Art School in Tokyo (1938-1945), and returned home with liberation. In 1948, he started with a Donghwa Gallery in Seoul and held more than 10 individual exhibitions of paintings and relievo sculptures in Korea.
In 1961, he moved to France to experience a new world of art and worked as a full-fledged sculptor, opening his eyes to the three-dimensional sculpture world while repairing Ravenel castle.
In 1970, he began to gain international fame as a sculptor by presenting "Man of the Sun" at the Valkares, International Sculpture Symposium on the southern Mediterranean coast of France.
During his 20 years in France, he held more than 150 invitation and individual exhibitions, including ‘Salon de Mei’.
In 1980, he permanently returned to his hometown of Masan, Changwon, and devoted to build an art museum that he was hoping for, Also, he built < Olympic 1988 > 25m high at the Art Olympiad held in commemoration of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, which is recognized as his representative work.
In addition, he was invited to retrospective exhibitions in Eastern and Western Europe in Yugoslavia, France and Hungary from 1990 to 1992, and promoted Moon Shins’s art to countries around the world.
On May 24, 1994, 14 years after his permanent return, he built and opened a Moon Shin Art Museum in his hometown Masan, but unfortunately passed away in 1995 with a chronic illness.
. In recognition of his contribution, the government awarded the “Korea Gold Crown Cultural Medal”.
According to the will of Moon Shin, his art museum was donated to formerly Masan City and currently operates as “Changwon City Masan Moon Shin Art Museum”.
